ABOUT KAREM
Hello, I'm Karem.
I’m an intercultural communication consultant based in France, and I work with women navigating life, work and communication across cultures.
I’ve always been curious about the small differences that can completely change the way we understand one another — a silence, a question, a different way of giving feedback, negotiating or simply saying “no.”
Over time, I became particularly interested in what happens between cultures: the assumptions we make, the meanings we attach to other people’s behaviour, and the moments when we wonder, “Did I do something wrong?”
My work is about creating space to look at those moments with curiosity rather than jumping to conclusions.
I help women understand different perspectives, question their own cultural filters and find ways to adapt without losing who they are.
I work in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish.
A LIFE ACROSS CULTURES
I grew up in the suburbs of São Paulo, Brazil, and began my professional journey in journalism.
My work has taken me from Brazil to Europe, and over the years I have lived and worked in England, Germany and France. Along the way, I found myself working with people from many different parts of the world — across Europe, Asia and beyond.
Being part of these different environments made me curious about the small things that can change the way we understand one another: how people express disagreement, build trust, give feedback, respond to questions or simply relate to each other.
I began to notice that what feels obvious to us is not necessarily obvious to someone else.
And sometimes, the most interesting part is not the difference itself, but the meaning we give to it.
That led me to ask:
What did I actually observe?
What did I interpret?
What else could explain it?
These questions are now at the heart of the way I approach intercultural communication.

A Portuguese-language podcast exploring the humorous, unexpected and sometimes challenging experiences of Brazilian women living abroad.
The project created a space for stories and conversations about life across cultures and reached listeners in 70+ countries.
